About
Collab:
hello it me, German boomer o/
I started out by playing standard (can aim and read high AR okay-ish but everything else is bad), then picked up 4k/7k mania and taiko later on, switching between modes ever so often.
currently doing 7k mania because I can't escape this game after all
setup: scrollspeed 33-34, old bojii skin with small changes, asd[ ]klö keybinds + wrist rest, monsgeek keyboard that the goat Blacku1 has lent to me
mid tier AMD PC, 144hz 26" display
box of thoughts
about the state of 4k ranked
Can we focus on creating and ranking good maps again instead of big numbers or personal profiling - I feel like this gamemode has been broken 10 times worse compared to osu!standard or taiko, and somehow nobody is complaining about it because 10* maps in 7 key exist which is entirely unrelated.
Stuff like Abraxos' Possession that is silly, may not sit well with some players but is actually a memorable/unique map plus good representation of the song.
I'm also tired of hearing the "it's my mapping style, I don't map things this way because of pp and XY is subjective!" argument, you know exactly what you're doing, all I'm going to say is you can and should do better. I wish people would have the integrity to say no, we're not going to rank this if you insist on pulling that move.

about improving at game
The way I think about this is a 40-30-30 split: only 40% is the infamous "play more", 30% is deciding correctly on which maps you'll play in a session, another 30% includes posture, setting up your skin, mindset and such.
about deciding on maps, you want to maximize the time you're learning something. target your skillset weaknesses (especially during "bad sessions" for pushing yourself a lot) because it will pay out by helping in other unexpected ways. avoid practicing on maps with big diffspikes, your progress will be way more ambiguous on those. download a bunch of unranked or maybe tournament mappacks and most importantly, remember to have fun!
about posture, make sure your body has as many 90 degree angles as possible - this includes your arms with the elbows, your legs with the knees and your back. don't play with stretched out fingers or too much finger movement, it strains them way more and may lead to injuries. you wanna claw your hands a bit and use your wrist to support the tapping motions. the top side of your screen should roughly line up with the height of your eyes when sitting up straight.
about skin setup, reading should be as comfortable as possible, and your unstable rate firmly in the middle between early (negative ms value on the result screen graph) and late (positive). if it isn't, you can try less/more scroll speed or changing hitposition/combo position/column size in your skin.ini file. I'm not a believer in fully changing skins on a regular basis, but will often change the aforementioned values.

about the other Mania Germany
We (the original server) are not affiliated with them or their actions in any way nor are we looking for trouble. Be aware that they're twisting stuff about us, don't blindly believe any of it. Would just be nice if they could use another name/branding as they've promised to me but not followed up upon.
also playing some dancepad games as a sidequest, these are my StepmaniaX stats c: https://statmaniax.com/player/14819
even if how I ended up here was kinda silly I'll always be grateful for the friends I made, you guys really do mean the world to me. if you need anything from the German mania community just message me, I can help you out!
