Hello! I am Chips, a taiko (formerly standard) player from the Philippines.
I can speak and understand English, Filipino, and some Japanese.
I've heard of osu! as early as 2014 and was officially introduced into it by my friend in 2017. I started playing standard in April 2018, and moved to taiko in July 2020.
I don't think I'm remarkably good at the games I play, but I do try my best. Aside from osu!, I also enjoy Apex Legends and Genshin Impact.
I'm pretty shy and awkward, but I hope we can be friends!
If you're still reading this, the rest of my userpage is like 50% a meme
i don't know why i made this section i'm not even good at the game lmao
• Where did you get your stupid name? I just looked at what was on my table at the time, but other than that, lack of creativity to be completely honest.
• What skin do you use? My current skin is an edit of an existing skin. You can find it by clicking on the circle on my banner. Skinned for all modes!
• Does tablet really make you better? Ultimately, yes. Most of the top players use tablet and even some top players who use mouse think tablet is the better option. The skill ceiling is the same for both devices, but personally, mouse just doesn't feel as consistent as tablet, which means you will need to work much harder.
• Does a mechanical keyboard make you better? Personally yes, but it really just depends on what you're comfortable using. For standard and mania, I use my mechanical keyboard, but for taiko, I use my laptop keyboard because I can acc on it better. For switches specifically, most players prefer light linear switches like the Gateron Reds.
• How do I improve? For starters, I'm not gonna tell you to play more because you've heard of it a million times already, but to keep it short, another important thing you need to have is motivation.

osu!standardNotes→ 08/19/18 — 200pp play• I had a pretty good run in standard, getting close to 4 digit in just one year.
• Unfortunately, I tried to change too much about my play style. I changed my tablet and dominant finger all at once and couldn't play properly, leading to my decay.
• Demotivated, I moved to taiko. I still play sometimes though, aiming to derust and go back someday.)[/size]

osu!taikoNotes→ 10/27/20 — #10,000• To be completely honest with you, I didn't think I would get this far. I started playing taiko because I saw it as a nice change of pace compared to standard, it looked like a lot of fun, and ultimately, I just had nothing better to do.
• The long time distance from 10k to 5k was because I grinded Apex during this time.
• A few days after 06/08/21, I went on a temporary hiatus to play other games and work on my YouTube channel.

These are the notable people I've met that stuck around throughout my playtime in osu!. You could say I respect these people.
♡ ApathyOSUApathyOSU — IRL friend. To be honest, I don't know if I would be where I am without him; he was basically there since day one. He supported and cheered for me every time I would pull off something huge, and I really, sincerely appreciate it.
♡ Akatsumi ChanERA Hatsuki — Met through ApathyOSU. IRL friend because we met up. Beast of a mania player, has one of the most insane improvement rates I've seen first-hand. Also good at a surprising amount of things besides mania. I really look up to this guy.
♡ NheoPlaysHakdogNheoPlaysHakdog — Met through ERA Hatsuki. We met up and went to his house, I had a pretty fun time there. First friend in osu!standard.
♡ CoEqualCoEqual — Slid into my DMs like a chad. I was playing taiko when he suddenly invited me to a random taiko lobby with other PH players, and that's how I met the rest of my friends. First friend in osu!taiko.
Fun Fact: I almost ghosted him, and I'm so glad I didn't.
♡ yuki_momoiro722yuki_momoiro722 — Met through CoEqual. Gave (and is still giving) some pretty solid advice when I was still starting out on taiko (~#8,000-ish). Second friend in osu!taiko.
♡ NytrioumAsa Kazato — Met through CoEqual. Nyt's pretty good at HR, and I suck at HR lmao. I also really admire his energy and the way he socializes with other people.
Nyt, Sneeze, Air, Coeq and I played in a tourney together, that was pretty cool. These people gave my introverted ass a chance to socialize, and that was a fun experience. yes i lurk in the taiko discord because i'm too shy to talk :p
