You have no idea how much this all means to me. This part of my life was probably the best thing that has ever happened. I've connected with many awesome people through this hobby, whether they helped me or I helped them. My social life has never been healthier.
Don't be scared, I am not quitting art, but the grind has taken a massive mental toll on me. Drawing everyday for a year straight has finally caught up and slowing down right now is the best thing to do.
I won't be participating in osu! contests frequently due to their seasonal rotation and I really do not know when I will come back. However, it is safe to say that I have already achieved what I've wanted and can "rest easy." #ezdubs
Do I consider myself as skillful as the other winners? I do not think so. I do consider myself as one of the more unique ones, maybe. My compositions are lazy but my technique of rendering, as far as I know, is pretty rare in the osu! scene nowadays (We need more painterly art styles on osu!). Overall, I just feel like I was just there at the right time to obtain my badges...
I also feel like the osu! art discord has become too comfortable with drawing or saying certain things, which is why I don't talk there often (you know who you are...). I can't really bash them because I have drawn suggestive things in the past, for and without pay, but I have moved on and will only use that card if money is REALLY a problem, sorry in advance. Also, the more skilled artists tend to hide in private vcs so do what you will with that information. Ultimately, I do not think that part of the community is the worst thing ever, I just think some more moderation needs to be in place.
For now, I am in a healthy zone. I am not that popular, but I have a decent community to rely on. I do not see a reason for me to raise my prices at the moment (as of Nov 2025) and I intentionally make my prices as low as possible and negotiable so that my art spreads and everyone can enjoy it. Art is my hobby and makes me happy for the most part. Once that happiness is stripped away, THEN it becomes a soul sucking job which probably will happen idk please employ me tim hortons.
also if u gate keep art advice, fuck u. It is not that hard to help others with the journey.

not too bad of a placement for a first entry.
the idea was that she was wearing basil's outfit from omori. you can also see the basil plush in her bag! i also struggled so much because i didn't have references or a good foundation on anything yet.
now looking back, the idea was kind of goofy. this is why you ask for feedback.

big step in my art career. almost top 10 on my 2nd try. knew i was capable of achieving something higher.
rendering on the clothes could have been better. the issue is that i was using only one brush. i experiment with texture later on.
at this point, i also dropped being a canadian top player and just focused on drawing.

this gave me massive confidence for the next contest.
i tried to go for this painterly look, leaving stuff look unfinished and rough. i think it has charm.
i still cant believe i got the placement with this type of style tho. i felt like it was too unique and that most wouldn't get it.
i do think i went too hard on the rough look on this piece. i think i could've refined it so much more.
oh yeah, first badge. really awesome sauce

Midnight Moments 2025 #1
words could not express how happy i was. #1 so quickly. massive confidence booster.
i kept the painterly aspect somewhat, you can see it on the clothes and hair (especially for mocha).
the kitsune mask(?) was added last minute because something just felt missing, although i didn't research if it was appropriate for the theme, which was new years. this was also my second time attempting a night sky, it was quite hard, but i enjoy the challenge.
on my twitter, i posted 2 WIPs and the final piece, all three including a quote from "Kimi no Na wa" because i decided to add the comet in the sky.

i wish i could've used a better outfit for chloe, i had to improvise because her jacket is really hard to draw. also used ace of diamond manga as a reference.
the reason why i chose chloe is because i loved drawing her when she first released. it was also the first time i was able to get proper recognition through a bigger osu! related account. felt like i had to give them some love.

i drew the banner art for the 2025 art contest, thats why the question mark is there lol. That unfortunately meant that I couldnt participate but thats okay.
thoughts? its just the same as my fall osu art submission. i was told to add black to pippi's hair because if you notice, i never drew her hair correctly. why? i don't know actually. i think it was hard for me to portray strands with black, so i always made it a darker pink.

- it's going to look bad at first, it will get better later.
- look back at your previous submissions OR other submissions.
- study in between contests.
- prioritize mental health, have fun, and don't shit on other peoples submissions.
