I'm Quitting osu!
Hi, sainttuna here.
Before anything else, I just want to say thank you for all the support. And before we get into the main topic, I also want to thank osu! for helping grow my youtube channel. Maybe not massively, but still a lot. There were so many memorable moments — big donations, highlights that made it into Shorts, and crazy “godmode” moments like playing 300 BPM and stuff like that.
As you guys know, playing a competitive game can be mentally draining. I know osu! is fun because of the music, the PP grind, and everything else that comes with it. But recently, I realized that I’m probably never going to become as good as I always wanted to be.
Let me explain why I feel stuck in this game.
I have a condition called a ganglion cyst. It causes a lump on my wrist, and it makes my hand feel stiff and uncomfortable whenever I play osu! for long periods of time. I’ve complained about this condition a lot because it’s the main reason I feel stuck.
I know I can stream. I understand streaming techniques and finger control pretty well in this game. But because of this condition, I just can’t improve any further. And honestly, I don’t even know when I’ll recover from it.
Besides osu!, I also realized that I have other things I need to achieve in life — like college, my future, and other responsibilities. I realized I can’t just sit here playing osu! all day forever.
I always dreamed of becoming one of the best players in my country to ever touch this game. But the more I chased that dream, the more I neglected improving myself in real life. And honestly, that really sucks.
I’ve done a lot of research trying to fix this condition. I tried stretching exercises specifically for ganglion cysts and many other things, but nothing really worked for me.
The sad part is, if I truly want to remove the cyst, I need surgery. And surgery costs a lot of money. Insurance could help cover it, but unfortunately, I don’t have insurance right now. And the bigger the cyst gets, the more pain I feel in my hand.
So yeah, that’s my condition.
Back to osu! — I don’t think I can keep playing this game anymore. I’m not having fun with it anymore, and it hurts to admit that.
So yeah, wish me luck.
After that, I’ll stop playing osu! until I can recover from this condition. Maybe I’ll save enough money for surgery someday — maybe within the next 1 to 3 years.
So yeah, that’s my long rant about all of this.
Thank you so much for staying with me until this point. Thank you for all the support you gave me back when I was actively playing osu!. I might still play the game sometimes — maybe offline, or maybe osu!mania instead — but that’s about it.
Thank you guys for reading this. Thank you for all the support.
I’ll still be livestreaming and making videos outside of osu!, so stay tuned for that.
And once again… thank you.
