Whether others like my maps or not is up to them. I just map for fun, as a way to express myself and the Music.
To create something I actually like to play myself, to make practice maps for skillsets I have fun learning and to share it for others to enjoy too.
Cringe Yap about how the mapping style came to be
Most of my maps are extremely difficult, technical or expressive in nature. They're not really intended to be SS'd, more so to be a visual and technical representation of the song in Catch.
Since the very beginning of learning Catch I was always fascinated with the way the gamemode can represent maps, but something always felt too ridgid in the ranked section at that time, so I moved to play a lot from the graveyard and loved section. I found a lot of joy playing difficult and technical, dense or freestyle maps. But I didnt have the ability to express songs the ways other did.
What stood out to me were especially Rocma, RazorSharp, BoberOfDarkness, Kyptoric and Fuhie maps to me. For their incredibl mix of difficulty and song reprensentation. And I tried mapping the songs I liked in a style I found fun. Many notes, even extra Notes just to represent changes in Tone or Sounds better. And I tried my best to not be influenced by the ranked section or other mappers at all. And lent most of it organically develope. That was a very long process and the addition of a Lazer editor and custom mods for playtesting greatly accelerated learning and developing it. Its very easy to mix 1/8, 1/12 1/6, all kinds of snappings, even 1/21, 1/24th or higher.
There is many other talanted mappers who im inspired by in various ways, either by their creativity, rhythm choices or coming up with very unique ideas themselves. Most of my maps are speedmapped, in a very short time of just a few hours or days now. I place notes in ways that feel like they respresent the song or sounds, and connect them in ways that make sense and is fun to play. I rarely second guess my choices, and If I do its very hard to change the patterns I placed. Its very in the moment and organic mapping style.
There are maps I have worked on and off for years, learning from experience, and getting feedback and seeing how others percieve the map and how it can be improved and changed to be even more fun or representative. For the longest time I had no good options to testplay them myself. With Lazer and much improved skillset thats been possible for a while now.
At the end of the day, im not really interested in ranking my maps. I just want to keep making stuff that feels good to play or look at and that sounds like the song I feel in my head. For now, I’m mostly focused on getting better at hitsounding and improved the balance of difficulty and playability without taking away from the represenation.
Especially Big thanks to Fuhie and Kyptoric for being such good Friends and Mentors <3
