About
Your average Chordjack mapper

About me
Yo, im Jhown, 20 years old Brazilian Chordjack Player & Mapper. I started playing mania on July 2019 but i had contact with music and games since 2008, always was interested by things that involves music at general so rhythm games and music games were always in my life. My first rhythm game was Guitar Hero III.
Motivations and reasons to start playing osu!:
Things who motivated me to play the game was a few friends (all of them quitted the game already) and i used to watch Sunix, SillyFangirl and wonder5193 a lot before i even started playing the game. This time i used to play Piano Tiles a lot in my phone too so it kinda made hop into osu a little bit faster, Good times...
Reasons why i picked Chordjack:
I started playing mainly Chordjack since 2020 (by its time you can tell im not that good at it compared to almost everyone nowadays) in a membrane keyboard that i dont have anymore. I used to hate Jack charts at general because i was so bad at it (completely my fault, patterning itself isnt bad its just up to the mapper to make a good thing) so since 2020 i challenged myself to getting good at Chordjack, when i started becoming decent (basing myself in my personal standards) i felt more interest about Chordjack at general in 2021 and then i dropped the idea about improving in another skillsets but Chordjack by completely, before the Chordjack grind begins, i used to play Jumpstream and Tech charts a lot and a little bit of LN (i suck at Stream / Speed even before starting Chordjack, its just not for me lol).

My Mapping history
I started mapping on December 2020 iirc just for fun and experimenting new stuff, in the end i got really interested by it and the thing that motivated me at most was because almost all of the maps i used to play at this time were so bad compared to nowadays (not saying my 2020-2022 maps are the best thing ever, i risk to say they were even worse in some aspects). So i started making maps for myself to play, whatever if it was just to enjoy the song or a challenge map for myself (second option extends to nowadays, cuz 90% of the maps i uploaded on bancho was for personal practice that people who get the map ask me to upload) and it helped me a lot enjoying the game, im always trying my best in my maps and i see other mappers Chordjack maps a lot too (DISCLAIMER: if you need to play Chordjack but have no maps, you can look at my Favourite Beatmaps section, here i will leave some maps that i consider good for practice or i consider good to enjoy depending of your song or density taste, theres everything here
) because i like to see other peoples perspective when it comes about Chordjack charting.

Since i started mapping, ive seen people saying that making a Chordjack map is easy, well its not wrong, but the thing is: Theres a wild difference between making a Chordjack map and a Good Chordjack map. You can just spam random notes on 1/4 snap and call it a Jack or Chordjack map and you arent wrong, but sometimes the map doesnt make sense (sometimes it can be intentional, i try to see by all perspectives, Chordjack doesnt need necessarily make sense at all). To make a Good Chordjack map it just depends of you sometimes (theres some Jack charting fundamentals that i consider important to learn when they are starting, which consists about paying attention with anchors, even if its a Speedjack or Chordjack charts, unecessary anchors can be avoided by reanalysing the map sometimes, but i understand that people arent used to do it, i dont blame, its just a recommendation and a fundamental that i consider really important, anchors can make a section way harder than it was supposed to be and sometimes they didnt even meant to have anchors).
(THIS PART IS JUST MY PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE ABOUT THE TOPIC, YOU ARE FREE TO DISAGREE)
By having that said, what is a Good Chordjack map?
To me, a Good Chordjack map is something that makes sense with what im listening to (no matter if its dense or not, the attempt of represent something that you are listening to in the editor is valid) and theres a bunch of ways of represent your vision, if its a sound, vocal, or even a normal composition, if i see it makes sense or if its not supposed to make sense and just enjoyable chart to me, then its good in MY vision, but this is just one fundamental i consider for a Good Chordjack map personally, Everyone has their different ways of represent a song, so i will try my best to see their vision, some maps are just made as challenges and i also enjoying playing them, i used to hate this kind of maps because in my vision they just didnt made any sense, just spammed notes and thats it, then i started to change this ignorant way of seeing these maps and just started to see them as challenge maps that id play for improve or because i enjoy playing challenging maps, they can be good depending of the player and mappers perspective, challenge maps can also be good (and they are so useful for improve, trust me), and they can be challenging and they can make sense at the same way, so if you make just a challenge map with no fundamentals yea its good also, but be sure that these kind of maps are way harder to enjoy than a challenge map that makes sense, that means it needs to have attention with anchors and density, Dense Chordjack is really hard to make it look good or with sense (it doesnt feel hard because people see just 4 notes column so they think they can make anything and it will be fine but its completely wrong). Also theres nothing wrong about copying other peoples patterning to learn better about difficulty sense or layering sense (thats how i learned Chordjack mapping btw lol).Inspirations (as a player)
