rework take
I've spent years at this point, chasing rank and relative global placement as validation for my worth as a player, and at the center of that has been the various farming metas from 2020 to 2026. It's cost me my mental health, physical health, and time.
I understand it's almost pretentious to say this as someone who has accomplished just about everything they sought out to when they first got into the game, but genuinely, stop giving a crap about farming "optimally".
I cannot stress this enough. These metas come and go, and nowadays the rate of reworks is much more frequent (and could potentially become more frequent in the future as well). Associating a score’s worth and meaning with any pp value is a moot point towards the actual goal of all players playing this game, which is to have fun. If you want to play aimslop, play aimslop! If you want to play flowslop, play flowslop! If you want to play early 2010s mapping, or tech, or aim control, or gimmick, play them and set scores! If you don't want to play a map, and it's making you rage like hell, then don't play it!
A score is only worth as much as YOU believe it to be.
And to those who feel targeted or wronged by a rework for nerfing their plays too significantly, I understand your frustrations, but ultimately did your milestone disappear? Did the experience, the euphoria of setting those scores never exist in the first place?
I think we put too much emphasis on the I have, rather than the I did. Vaxei's 1k on Tsukinami will forever be the first 1k in the game, regardless of the present rework. Those reactions, the hype, and the moment will forever be set in the game's history.
All this is to remind you, that there is nothing permanent in life. Obsessing over statistics that were effectively arbitrary in the first place accomplishes nothing.
Just remember to always have fun, and cherish the memories.
