From Parityfp/Delutaya

dec 31, 2021
ok so throughout the second half of 2021, i’ve found things about speed, things that made me improve, discoveries, and just some things to take note of.

-FlyingTuna’s Method makes for a very good and quick warmup. sprint to 500 taps as fast as i could, don’t take breaks. used this website instead of that app in the vid (i will not be responsible for your carpal tunnel)
-Main thing that leads to stamina growth is strain, speaking of strain, i’ve watched literally every speed and stamina guide on youtube and the one that is the most informative is RyuK’s [1] [2] would really recommend anyone who needs knowledge in this topic to watch it…
-Tried out khz’s method. didn’t work out for me, though i understand how it would be effective for some people, i just didn’t want to have a set routine like that. speaking of khz, i really have to credit him for giving me the best hand exercises i’ve tried for osu.
-about genetics. it really is a long answer. and there are many ways to look at this topic. Just have a good mindset and you’ll be fine.
-thank you _Shield for this amazing finger control collection.
-Tapping style is probably the most important thing ever for speed(MORE INFO IN SECTION BELOW), this brings me to my next “idea” about genetics. everyone has different hand structures. Some people (whom i know personally) are born with hands that some tapping styles aren’t compatible with. for example, a person with long nail beds find efficient tapping styles like aetrna’s or aricin’s to be uncomfortable because they cannot curl their fingers that much. then again, they could just get used to a different tapping style that they are comfortable with?? ah fuck. this topic makes my brain fry and i’m literally just talking to myself rn who the fuck is gonna read this anyways AHAHAA CRAZY POG CHAMP!!!
-Learning how to vibrate (MORE INFO IN SECTION BELOW) skyrocketed my deathstream stamina, like i literally move my fingers automatically forever until i eventually run out of adrenaline to fuel my vibration. please learn how to vibrate. ok this might sound dumb to some “better players” reading this, please forgive me senpai… i’m a speed newbie. maybe vibrating is actually how people normally stream. i just haven’t asked anyone as a reference.
-It is 2 am and i am writing this whole thing because i’m bored.
-STRAIN STRAIN STRAIN, KEEP PUSHING THE LIMITS, EVEN IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE GONNA PASS OUT, GO FOR A FEW MORE COMBOS ON THAT LONG STREAM PRACTICE MAP YOU’RE PLAYING!!! more strain, more gain! more pain, more pain!
-“uwaaaa *cries* i have bad UR how to improve UR uwa uwaaa” i also have bad UR on lower bpms, i can’t vibrate lower bpms cuz i lack finger control, but my answer to bad UR is to JUST PLAY MORE LOL. this is not a qna what am i doing? i’m just addressing this (in my opinion)dumb question i see everywhere with an equally dumb answer.
-Bought a keypad with heavy switches in hopes that it would train my stamina, never ended up switching to it because i can’t draw triangles in between breaks, and it is also inconvenient to press esc. Also didn’t even notice the 10g difference in actuation force, the presses did feel nicer than my whitecat keyboard so that’s a plus, i’m sticking to the cheater keyboard, but i’ll use the keypad once in a while since i already spent money on it.
-Watching other people play is a huge huge source of adrenaline and motivation for me. my dog could die tomorrow, but if aetrna drops a 3 mod fc on words i never said, i would absolutely be pumping.

speaking of aetrna, let’s talk about these wise words from Mr. lotleX.
So .Fucking .True .Oomfie .
jesus christ there you fucking go. that’s all you need. why did you spend 20 hours watching speed guides on youtube? what a waste of time when all you ever needed are in these 7 words. Coincidentally, after i read this tweet i started to skyrocket(around july(don’t look at my play graph)). I meant AFTER i ended my genshin addiction, i came back with these 7 words in mind, and CRUSHED my old records, BROKE new barriers, and TRAVELED to the 2nd dimension in my dreams.

conclusion: Siae is the best player in the world

i end my speech.

-I finally understand the “khz shake”. For some reason, when i focus too much stamina on my left hand, my right hand shakes uncontrollably. also found that higher heart rate = much shake.
-If I can’t read the map, I can’t hit it. me having this much stamina is like strapping a jet engine on a bicycle. I suck at DT, aiming, and finger control. even though i have enough stamina, i can’t play many speed maps.
-Streaming theory: you have one brain and the focus is split between aiming and tapping. If you focus harder on tapping, you focus less on aiming and it may lead to you misaiming a stream. If you focus too much on aiming, you might find yourself running out of stamina much faster than usual. If you train more, it may allow you to focus less on one thing and do better on the other. This is just a theory but i believe this is true based on my experiences.
-Read GalacticLightN’s thumb theory in the description of this video. useful information.
-Since tapping style is such an important topic, i’ll make a whole ass section on it
Let’s ask a question: What makes an efficient tapping style?

Compatibility, injury prevention, vibration enabling, comfortable, (usually) minimal movement,

I can’t say What is the best tapping style, because every player has different hands.

I’ll talk about my tapping style, what makes it comfortable? why is it the best (so far) for me?
-Thumb tuck, I rest my thumb on the table(almost like merami). This almost completely eliminates my thumb movement, which used to be a big stamina drainer for me.(note that this doesn’t apply to EVERYONE, obviously. look at Aricin, his thumb is literally dancing). It also allows me to lift my wrist when i’m squeezing more stamina out. (please read thumb theory by galacticlightn)
-No strain on my wrist. My tapping style used to suck(very very much). I used to lift every finger and output a lot of force onto my wrist because my wrist was always touching the table, never being lifted even on long streams. This eventually lead to PAIN, which made me have to take breaks for several days in between sessions. It was only after I watched Ryuk’s Speed talk that I realized I was putting myself in danger. I almost developed Carpal Tunnel. This was when i decided to change my technique. Currently, most of the strain is spread throughout my whole thumb and my wrist, instead of just abusing my wrist everyday. I don’t get wrist pains anymore, this is a W. (i also put a mousepad under my keyboard and it’s amazing, soft and comfortable instead of hard wood desk makes a huge difference).
-Vibration. How would I describe vibration? It’s kind of like uncontrollably shaking your hands but focusing the shake on only two fingers.

Look, I understand if you are not able to find a good tapping technique. I’m the same, but with my grip. My grip is very similar flyingTuna’s grip but even more stupid. It’s not comfortable, My thumb is in pain after playing sotarks maps for more than an hour straight, and despite trying like every top player’s grip, i’m still stuck with this shitty grip. So I understand if you’re going through the same thing with tapping style. I’m sorry, I can’t help you. On the bright side, i’m getting kinda used to this grip(no shit, i have over 20 days play time on the same grip), so… this might actually just be the FABLED “skill issue”.

-my friend's speed stamina demon just unleashed. How? he ate 2 vitamin gummies. no, im not joking. Im actually curious on whether it actually works, or is it just a mental thing, like he convinced himself that it is going to make him better which resulted in a good mindset, which later results in GAINS.
-Another thing i forgot to mention is nail clipping, it's really important to always have short nails on tapping fingers because it just feels awful to play with long nails.
-FunOrange's osu! trainer is a tool for changing the difficulty settings of a map(like BPM, AR, OD, etc.). But this program made my osu crash multiple times. Also just refuses to work sometimes. kinda sussy.
-Talking about warmup. What is warmup? to me, the only warmup necessary is to just get my hands moving. on some sessions, im already pumping as soon as i get on, so warmup isn't necessary. But on some days, my hands are feeling scrawny af and so i do some hand exercises, play some maps, and just get my hands moving. ok so what is a good warmup map? something that is intensive on single tapping, is why i recommended using FlyingTuna's method, since it really works your fingers up.
-Speaking of warmup and getting hands moving. One of the most overpowered items that I found to boost my performance is... a hair dryer. ok, let me explain, i feel like whenever heat is applied to my hand, blood rushes to it, making my hand feel more flexible and just faster overall. I actually won't describe this with words anymore, you have to try it. What I did before i ever tried using a hair dryer is I used to shake my hand for 10-15 seconds to get some blood rushing to it, now i do both. (video of me proving the viability of the hair dryer is in my youtube link above)
-lmfao i really just wrote 1763 words talking about speed and stamina. Seriously, touch some grass. I can't, I live in an area in which there is no real grass, i can touch some fake grass if you want tho!
-benefits of drinking water:
carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells.
flushing bacteria from your bladder.
aiding digestion.
and most importantly, lubricating your joints.
yeah, i don't know much about biology but seems like drinking more water will result in uh lubricated fingers?
-A fast way to strain(gain stamina) is to play fast finger control maps that are not too hard to the point where you just mash randomly, but also difficult enough for you to feel tired.
-I regret my playstyle. Not that i regret having this this much stamina, but i regret not spending more time to play other things in order to develop more skills. Im currently massively bottlenecked by speed stamina compared to my other skills. don't forget to train your finger control!
-for some reason, metal maps make me feel stronger and faster. there is just something special about those screams, its like an energy boost.
-oh yeah this stream by idke is also good
there's really nothing much left that i can talk about... this is the end for now.
-ambidextrous mode when play with urself
-look at ur not acc

-keyboard tilt method

A Truly magnificent work of art. Ordinary Mappers just place Jumps and call it a day, but this beatmap goes above and beyond. When I first saw this revolutionary piece of art I couldn't express myself other than umming Violently across my Setup (It took days to clean up). The Sweet Bass combined with these Wonderful Horizontal "One-Two-Jumps" is beautiful enough to make any Man release an ungodly amount of emen. You can just feel the emotions that went into this Map and the Tears that streamed down the Mapper's cheeks when he Sculpted this Behemoth of a Map. I truly hope that this Map gets the recognition that it deserves. May the Public be ready to witness this monstrosity of a Map, and may this community's Pants be soaked in um. Amen
