notes to self (tablet areas that have worked well for me)
i am extremely sensitive to tablet/area changes and have tried a countless amount of area/tablet/driver combinations. this is just a log of the ones that i've actually been able to stick with and set scores with over the past years
my aim consistency drops tremendously when i use OpenTabletDriver on Windows and i have no real reason as to why this is but it's why i don't use it and prefer devocub instead. i think it might either have to do with some weird pen tracking issues with the CTH-670 in particular where sometimes the input isn't actually polled every "frame" or simply just more input lag compared to devocub. there is way too much of a difference in my performance between the two to believe it's just placebo
CURRENT:
devocub driver v1.5.6, no smoothing
^this tablet setup is good for dt and nomod & viable for consistency and high bpm aim, also works well with ctl-672 but doesn't feel as consistent.. not sure why, maybe pen difference?

(Windows 10) cth-670, 108.24x68.5 centered, 1920x1080 fullscreen, wrist down
opentabletdriver (not sure what version), no smoothing
^used this setup for quite a while after h1161 stopped working, potentially really good for nomod aim consistency and hybrid DT. it didn't feel great for high BPM DT aim

official huion pentablet driver (early 2020 version, unsure what number)
^tablet setup during previous peak skill, around june 2020. has like 20ms of hardware smoothing which is nice when used to it, sucks when not. haven't been able to play well with it again after using no smoothing for a long time
(Windows 10) ctl-471, full area (force aspect ratio), 1366x768 fullscreen letterboxed (1920x1080), wrist down
hawku driver v1.5.5, no smoothing OR 8 ms 1000hz
^main setup i used before h1161, it was good for DT aim consistency. hawku driver has to be replaced with devocub v1.5.6 for windows 11 and smoothing/antichatter/prediction disabled
(Windows 7) ctl-480, full area (force aspect ratio), 1366x768 windowed (1920x1080), wrist down
using the really old no smoothing wacom driver, can't remember the number
^main setup for a really long time before eventually moving to hawku drivers (around 2017? i think)

rework issues
- OD11 gives too much pp (my 10 year old future son score is worth the most it's ever been... 508->451->519 why? it's not even an FC)
- Gimme Gimme Gimme DT 2x100 FC is going from 589->517, worth LESS than the aforementioned future son sliderbreak S
- Every single high SR aim map seems to be getting around a ~0.4* SR hit despite actually being difficult to FC
- This dame wa dame score goes from 510->563, but the map is like 40 seconds long and not hard at all. Acc isn't even good
- Oldish 255 burst farm map score that goes from 531->593 even though this sweets parade (309 bpm) score goes from 567->469. Clearly length doesn't matter here if dame wa dame can get buffed? Even being a farm map, sweets parade requires far more skill than Desire. It's not even a question
- Consistency aim(?) farm map score, not even FC that goes from 502->541. New SR on that map is 8.52(???)
- Aim slop score that goes from 523->553 just because it's OD11. 96.65% 3x miss
- Triplets are severely underweighted
I don't think the pre-rework pp system is that great either (not enough attention towards hybrid maps), but I honestly don't even know what this rework is trying to accomplish aside from pushing an EZDT / AR11 meta. I'd enjoy a hybrid meta but even those are just randomly getting buffed/nerfed (Renatus 99.03 HDDT FC 588->617pp, but Otsukimi Recital 99.68 HDDT FC 560->547pp. These are literally the exact same skillset, yet one gets buffed and the other nerfed)
Only good thing about rework is that SR of maps is mostly more accurate for hybrid (with exceptions of course, like fantastic dreamer [Blessing] +HDDT going from 8.28* -> 8.00*...)
