uneven eye grade (-1.75L, -2.50R) i play with glasses
unbalanced physically, left arm broke when i was 3, had to go have surgery, recovered but i cant stretch out my arm for extended periods of time without pain. basically a stamina and physicality issue for only my left hand

started playing VSRGs in 2017 (rhythm track on roblox is my first vsrg, then robeats), quit mid 2018-mid 2019, came back for a bit, quit 2020-2022 (pandemic and boredom) came back to playing VSRGs in 2023 (rosu!mania, robeats) only really started to improve when i swapped to osu!mania in 2024, so all in all ive played for 5 years

learning 7k will get u far in 4k
doesnt matter how long it will take to learn 7k, you will eventually see progress



when starting out, experiment with skins until you find The One. unlike 4k where it's easy to swap skins around, 7k is a bit hard to get used to, of course i recommend R Skin since the columns are colored symmetrically but there are plenty others out there that are similar. the first skin you get used to will be the skin you will use for the entire time you play 7k basically

7k is just 3k+1k+3k

to optimally play 7k, have 3 fingers on each hand + a thumb of your choosing, this is mostly just up to preference. if you play games a lot it might be better to use the hand where you use movement keys? but just stick to your dominant hand for your thumb

code each finger to respond to a specific color such as ring + index for white, and middle for blue

the only issue with 7k early game is reading notes and which finger to use. physicality only starts being a problem around high 6* so don't really worry much about it. you might have some finger pain, but this won't be much of a problem if you play enough.

7key 25 keys per second = 3.5 per note

on the topic of physicality, if you swap from 4k over to 7k you won't have any issues with physicality at all, just reading and knowing which finger to use

increase your scroll speed higher than what you are comfortable with <- actual game changer
notes will fall faster than you can read them, sure, but you can lower the speed once you get used to it (ex. going from 25 > 29 then lowering it to 27 after some time like a few weeks) you can finally read notes faster

read each note per row (horizontal) rather than per column (vertical) also known as HORIZONTAL READING. most notes are mapped with another note in mind (7k allows for much more note freedom and song expression) so reading horizontally allows you to read multiple notes at once, rather than reading each note per column individually

you can relate this to other different patterns as all notes, except the thumb, are symmetrical to the other side


dont be too shy using halftime mod, it is used a TON even late game. halftime makes it so maps with harder patterns are easier to hit and get used to. once it feels comfortable to hit, remove half time. half time is just 0.75x normal speed, so it's faster to adjust to normal speed compared to adjusting to double time from normal speed.

doubletime won't really help much in improving in 7k as compared to 4k, unless pp farming

I'd say that 7k star ratings are accurate until 4* and then theres a massive skill gap between 4* and 5*, and another big one between 5* and 6*, this is where halftime usually comes in. play 6* maps on halftime and it should fall to the 4-5* range

harder maps on half time let you see what the patterns of harder maps are but on a readable level, either uprate slowly or skill push without doing ht at all, forcing you to read the map in normal speed
