My name is Olivier! I go by as Olifré on the internet. I'm 29 years old and I work as a Software Developer.

I started playing osu! in the beginning of May 2014. My classmate at the time Agrooon recommended me this game as he was a fellow anime music enjoyer! After trying it out I got hooked, I couldn't stop! At first I only played standart mode. I played with a mouse for the first month, but quickly switched to my Bamboo CTH-470 after watching some top players scores which indeed played a lot better.

Of course I never became a osu!std player, my main mode is Taiko! Somewhere in July 2014 I started testing all the other modes. Taiko stuck out to me as the most fun and easiest to get into the Belgian Top50. I did reach top50 in 1 day, I was 47th haha! No screenshot of that unfortunately. If I remember correctly, at that time you needed like +-450pp for 50th place. Times sure have changed now, haha!

I didn't continue playing osu!taiko after that and just switched back to standard mode. My initial intentions for osu! were to main osu!std, however a few days after I got Top50 Belgium on Taiko my laptop I used at the time got sent to its manufacturer for overheating repairs. Because of that I had to use my previous laptop which wasn't good anymore (it also had overheating issues).
Unfortunately (or fortunately?), my Bamboo tablet didn't work well on that laptop, so I could only play Taiko, CTB and mania. Because I found Taiko the most fun, I played that. The plan was to just play Taiko and switch back to standard mode when I get my laptop back. However, during that time I improved a lot in Taiko and started to get addicted to Taiko instead. When I got my laptop back I had no intentions to switch back and continued to play Taiko!

At first, I didn't realy know what was a good Taiko key config to use. I tried some configurations that felt ok to me. I tried azer as that's the default color setup, but I couldn't play well with it. Next I played azer and that felt nice, so I decided to main that config. (This was all still on day one of trying Taiko)
I used this key combo for nearly 1,5 months, but then I switched to qslm because it felt more comfortable to have some space between my hands, haha!
I used that combo till I reached arround 1,800pp which was if I remember correctly Mid-late September 2014. During that time I noticed that nearly all the pro's use the kddk play style. It's more comfortable for hitting faster streams cause you can alternate hands + I though that the better I would get, the harder songs I'll have to complete for pp, so by learning this play style instead I would set myself up to get to that level more easily and quicker. So I decided to swith to qslm.
But man, I couldn't play Taiko at all with that key combo... I was basically a kkdd player previously switching to kddk, which meant I had to rebuild myself from the ground up Taiko skill-wise. The first few days I kept switching between the two because I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to this new playstyle. On the one hand I wanted to improve and give myself the best chance to get myself in a good position to get as far as possible, but I also wanted to have a key combo that felt comfortable. At some point I made my final choise and ditched the kkdd play style and use kddk only, regardless how bad I would be. I was determined to learn the play style and get good with it.

The last moments that I played kkdd, I was able to complete most Muzukashii maps (2.5 - 3.5* at the time) and some oni maps too (3.5 - 4.0*). Now with kddk I couldn't play oni maps anymore, so I went back to Muzukashii.
There I learned how to really play with kddk, and slowly got used to it. I don't remember how long it took, but I would say maybe 3 to 4 weeks to get fully used to the new play style? Back then I played a ton of osu!, you can see that in my play history, so that helped as well.

And the rest is history. I kept on playing and improving and here we are now. Osu! these days has become more of a comfy game to me. I still play almost daily but only short sessions, enough to keep myself derusted, but rarely long enough to be fully warmed up to go for pp. Sometimes I do get fully warmed up and then get motivated to go for pp, but that's not common.

Play Taiko no Tatsujin on a real arcade 9.9 (05/03/2023) Made in Asia 2023 Expo In Brussels had an original Taiko Arcade machine. Was fun, but you had to slam the drum quite hard for it to detect inputs
Reach level 100 in osu!taiko (29/04/2025) Been playing for so long, so it's pretty cool to see I finally played enough to reach this, even though it doesn't really do anything. It still looks pretty cool imo. :p

Get 100pp in one day
Outside of the first day playing Taiko, I probably have gotten 100pp in one day before in the days where I had less then 1500pp. I like this challenge as it gets harder and harder the higher rank you get. Here are all of my documented moments where I reached that goal.
- (31/10/2016) => 6,241pp to 6,347pp
- (18/09/2017) => 7,004pp to 7,125pp Got it again!! (All thanks to you, filthy pp farm map! >:)
- (30/09/2018) => 7,731 to 7,847 Got it yet again!! (All thanks to you, filthy pp farm map #2 >:))
- (19/04/2019) => 8,810 to 8,962 Again, I got it!! (All thanks to you filthy pp farm map #99999 >:)))
- (12/09/2023) => 10,974 to 11,163 lmaooo
- (27/02/2024) => 11,441 to 11,646 all thanks to this map >:)) (and this map too) (This is I think the first time I got 200+ pp in one day?) In detail, I went from 11,441 to 11,558 and then to 11,638 and lastly to 11,646. It's been a really long time since I jumped over 100pp in one single play!!
- (14/03/2024) => 11,726 to 11,927 !!!! (Another 200+ pp jump, my god!!!! All thanks to this and this map!! First one an unexpected FC and the other one a map I know I can FC, but now just a normal play with misses. Hands & arms are tired, so cannot continue on the same level to FC. :')
- (18/04/2024) => 12,130 to 12,230. Exactly 100!! :p All thanks to this map.
- (18/10/2024) => 12,489 to 12,711. Over 200pp again, but this time in ONE play, all thanks to this map!!
- (21/10/2024) => 12,711 to 12,828!! Not bad not bad, was in good shape today! Got it thanks to this and this map + one other map, but the play was not good but enough for some extra pp (+20pp).
- (05/04/2025) => 12,217 to 12,327. First one after the big PP rework. All thanks to this. It went up to 12,308, so I had to find a few smaller pp scores to get it to over 100.
- (03/10/2025) => 12,410 to 12,565. A big PP farm map. First it went up to 12,541 cause I didn't fc first score and then to 12,564 with 97.16% fc. And then one more pp via this map.
- (18/12/2025) => 12,572 to 12,687. Was in good shape today, especially my HD reading! All thanks to two FC's on these two maps.
- (14/03/2026) => 12,702 to 12,852. 150 exactly lol! Again another great day, insanely well in form for speed and HD reading caught up to be excelent as well. Though specifically speed was so good I've never been in this shape before and I don't know how, I just started my session as always but really quickly noticed my speed was higher than usual and didn't feel pain or restraint in my left arm. Anyway, these two scores are the notables here.

osu! has always been more of a side game to me. My actual main game has always been Mario Kart Wii. I come from the competitive Mario Kart scene. (it has one believe it or not) If you recognize me from outside of osu!, it's probably from there.

You can checkout my Youtube channel for some of my Mario Kart content! I don't upload much anymore these days, but I do hope to change that in the coming future.

Besides Mario Kart, I'm a big Nintendo fan, especially the Mario and Pokémon franchise. I like SEGA for the Sonic franchise and Super Monkey Ball, and also the AM2 arcade games like Outrun 2 and Daytona USA.
