Rules
please read the special rules btw!!!!
- 4k only
- Please submit requests here! You can keep track of them on my trello. I will send a PM or DM whether I accept or reject (except for requests that break my special rules), so please remind me if I haven't messaged you after I finish going through all requests
- No requests that violate the allowed, with exceptions or disallowed sections of the content usage permissions page.
- If you use hitsounds, you have to have an accessible hitsound difficulty
- No incomplete sets (this is so I can avoid dealing with potential spread issues)
- No denpa songs
- No AI assets. If you use an AI-generated BG, you must change it. If you used AI in any other way, I will reject your set.
please read the special rules btw!!!!
Special Rules
Requests that break these will only get a comment on their trello card as opposed to a dm/pm from me so I don't have to send as many messages per cycle, and since they're kiiiind of obvious dealbreakers for me
- No 7*+/endgame level chart requests. This includes any map above 7*, no matter if it's website or in-game SR, or whether it feels like a 7* map or not. This is due to me not wanting to take maps that are way above my skill level as a player. You can check my preferences section for a longer explanation, if you're curious.
- No SVs unless they're extremely simple (I play with a lane cover so I'm pretty terrible at judging them)
- No requests that fall under the current ranked chordjack meta. Stuff like stereotypical frenchcore cj, stuff that looks like this, etc. They have to be high effort conceptually.
- No generic TV size charts. (this is not a restriction on anisongs, nor is this limited to anisongs. It's basically anything that gives off a stereotypical "TV Size chart" vibe)

- most chordjacks, most LN coord charts, sets with more than 2 GDers (due to potential spread issues), rice charts with lots of short LNs
-- Dense handstreams, rice charts where you hold one really long LN while playing a bunch of rice notes on the side a lot, heavy shield usage
--- Meme songs, slowjams, any other kinds of SVs (even simple ones)
Juuuust to let you know, I become much stricter around the 5.5* range, and acceptance rates are extremely low at 6*+. I would not recommend requesting 6*+ charts to me. (I'd rather not use SR as a measure of actual difficulty, but it's somewhat useful here)
I consider myself pretty open minded to different approaches to charting, so don't feel discouraged if say, your chart falls under a neutral preference instead of a positive preference. I also tend to be very picky regardless of the approach, but in return I'm almost always being willing to be first BN and usually get to requests pretty quickly. Just to let you know, if I reject a map and respond with "this doesn't match my tastes in ___", that roughly means that I don't think my feedback would be too helpful since my tastes are too different from the chart that's being requested. Which is ok! My opinion is just one opinion. It doesn't mean that your chart is objectively bad.
...Though, I'm not a huge fan of deadlines so I'm probably not the best person to go to if you have a MG priority quest
Finally, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

why?
I want to include this for transparency's sake!
I think it's vitally important to the health of our mode that higher level players get charts that are catered towards them. I absolutely respect that there is a high demand for higher level ranked charts. However, higher level charts receive the most scrutiny from the community, and I care a lot about the quality of the charts I nominate. The further away a chart goes from my skill level as a player, the less I can judge whether the chart could be enjoyable for its intended audience. Being able to personally judge a chart's playability is vital to me when checking, so I think it's important for me to be incredibly picky with anything that is far above my skill level as a player. I have a lot of pride in my ability as a modder, but I know myself well enough to know that there are other BNs/NATs who are far better at judging high level charts than I am.

For beginner & intermediate level mappers new to ranked
Remember that it's more important to make content you're proud of than anything else (it's waaaaaay more important than having your maps ranked imo). Make sure that you have some experience making stuff for fun, and never prioritize making something "rankable" over something you legitimately enjoy playing. Also remember that you don't have to accept all of a BN's suggestions when they check your maps. As a BN, we're usually pretty chill about our suggestions getting rejected and I think it's important to defend your map's intent especially if we're just wrong about stuff.
I'm mentioning this because 1. I feel like a lot of new mappers try too hard to get stuff ranked instead of focusing on what makes mapping fun for them + 2. they accept BN mods too easily.
As for getting your maps accepted by BNs? I can't speak for every BN but here's some practical advice:

As for getting your maps accepted by BNs? I can't speak for every BN but here's some practical advice:
- be nice (which should be obvious but uh...yea)
- understanding the RC as much as you can helps a lot (though it can be kind of difficult)
- read the BN's rules. Some BNs like me are actually pretty chill with people not knowing things but some BNs are really strict about that.
- self-checking/modding. This doesn't just help with ranking stuff, it helps you improve as a mapper too. Try to playtest everything you make and double check to make sure your concepts are as consistent as you want them to be
- I'd recommend trying not to rank content you can't play. Some people can make it work, but most people (like me) can't (and oftentimes maps like these contain playability issues you can't detect).
- be careful about spread. Spread issues tend to be very tricky to deal with as a BN (especially with GDs), so as a BN it's pretty discouraging to see a set have them.
Favorite Nominations
Stealing this idea from Scotty, because I will also happily shill other people's charts
Not updating this until after my third tenure is finished, all are in chronological order
First Tenure (2018-2019)
siinamota feat. Hatune Miku - Sore wa Mahiru no Suisei (Chroma gochapon remix) (LeiN-)
goreshit - o'er the flood (Blocko, Jinjin, Pope Gadget, AncuL, Hydria)

Iglooghost - Bug Thief (BringoBrango, Toaph Daddy)
Second Tenure (2023-2025)
I'm really happy with the extreme majority of stuff I nominated so it was pretty tough to narrow it down to 10. I limited things to 1 set owner per entry to help.
KAF x Hakushi Hasegawa - TSUBOMI ni KAMINARI (Disguise)
Aquellex - Cortex Charger (Halogen-, -mint-, Mipha-, guden, elexire)
The Flashbulb - Kirlian Shores (hna)
Aiobahn - Fragments (feat. KOCHO) (LeiN-)
Taishi - Wasteland in the Depths (Alptraum)
void (Mournfinale) feat. Hoshikuma Minami - Testify (Abraxos, guden)
Sobrem & NIWASHI - A fight in Tunisia (elexire)

About Me
Hey, I'm Mystic!

Playing: Active
Charting: Active
Modding: If I'm in the mood for it and it's a tech or dump chart, maybe?
GD Requests: Feel free to ask! Unfortunately there is a high chance I'll say no since my motivation to chart can be very fickle, but I'm more likely to accept if I like the song and the set matches my tastes (varied, but skews heavily towards tech and dump charts and heavily against more traditional "ranked mapping" styles). I have a strong preference for hard, insane, and lower level extra diffs.
Collabs: If you've worked with me before when I was a BN, or chart tech/maybe dumps and think your style works with mine definitely feel free to ask! I want to work with more people so I think I'm more open to this than GDs atm. Hybrids are also an option but I don't get in the mood to chart them too often
Testplay Requests: Mostly Inactive (I kind of want to do my own thing during my mania sessions for now so I'd rather not testplay stuff unless I know you well enough, remember that I'm not a great player so please don't ask me to testplay anything that's too difficult!)
As a player I think I'm pretty good for my skill level at tech
Not that great at LNs
aaand awful at chordjacks. Even worse at quad heavy chordjacks but maybe it's because I don't like quad heavy maps in general. Or I dislike quad heavy maps because I'm bad at them idk
everything else I think I'm pretty average? Idk
I used to be much stricter with favorites years ago, but now it's basically any chart that I think is really fun. My charting philosophy/preferences still play into this ofc, but now I don't see a need to be picky about favoriting stuff I enjoy.

who is "dan" and why are they progressing
I'm not a huge fan of taking dans too seriously since a lot of people were kind of toxic about them back when I was previously active (and...honestly....I don't like the extreme majority of the rice dan maps based off of the dans I passed, not only as a mapper but as a player as well...) but ya know if you take them as very specific markers of personal progress I think they're pretty fun little challenges

non osu-mania stuff
- Uhh I mostly play weird obscure single player games in my free time. a lot of indie stuff specifically. osu!mania and geoguessr are the only multiplayer games that I ever really got into, and the Yakuza series + Cyberpunk 2077 are the only AAA games that I like. I'm not counting Nier:Automata because I'm a huge Nier/Drakengard fan in general and none of those games give off AAA vibes lmao. I also really *really* love jubeat. I want to get into other arcade rhythm games at some point but I'm far too obsessed with jubeat right now to do that.
- I got back into reading in 2022 and I've been having a lot of fun with that. I'm on book 12 of the Wheel of Time (...procrastinating on it actually the author change is pretty rough). I'm currently going through Wildbow's web serials and I'm absolutely loving them. I've finished Pact, Pale, Worm, and Ward. Just started Twig!
Tournaments
I'm fine if my charts are used in tournaments but please let me know if you do! You don't have to let me know, but I would really appreciate it and there's like a 99% percent chance I'll say yes. You should ask for permission if you want to make edits or cuts though. I'm open to changes, but I care a lot about my charting concepts so I want to make sure that any changes are still representative of my style.

Profile Pic/Banner Source
Profile pic is the imaged used for the Dawn Machine in Sunless Sea! I don't have a good link for the image since I got this from the game's fandom wiki years ago (and that website kind of sucks so I don't want to link it anymore). But it's the in-game icon for the location.
Banner is from my favorite VN, Scarlet Hollow! A game that proves the rule that any form of media with opossum characters has to be good. Their names are Dustin and Dustin Mom (not a typo), and I would protect them with my life. Anyways the game itself is amazing, I don't want to say too much but if you're familiar with the devs' more famous work Slay the Princess you have to check it out, I love it. I don't have a link to the art iself since it's a screenshot from Episode 4, but you can find Abby Howard's portfolio here! She's one of the game's two main devs, and her artwork is amazing.
