collabs
assorted thoughts
wtf is up with ur playtime/playcount/ranked score? (2024~)
short version? lots of farming for arbitrary numbers
long version? when i started playing this game in 2016, the meta was very much tv-size anime song farm, it's why i got into this game and it's what i based my foundations around, i was never someone who actively wanted to play longer maps as i found it more enjoyable to fc and farm fcs than get one really good score.
lo and behold, it's unfortunately somewhat shaped how i play the game nowadays. i don't really have much stamina in my aiming hand, and my grip isn't designed for longer songs with 0 breaks, so as a result, i tend to play shorter maps, or maps that have extensive breaks.
furthermore, i have a natural shake, which is exasperated by terrible nerves in both solo play and matches, so as a result, shorter maps allow me to play more comfortably and still feel rewarded.
sudden death is also a thing, so a lot of my scores i end up starting, go in to the bin due to a miss, or a sliderbreak, worth it for low a rank count though
thus, due to the above (+ a bit of ss farming on <45 second maps) my playcount is of a decent level, but my playtime and ranked score is abnormally low. i've also never played offline, and very rarely play with scorev2 to play a map through without setting an a-rank on the map, even if my time played off bancho, or with scorev2, were counted into my playtime, i doubt it would make any sizeable difference
thank you for reading.!!

thoughts on rapid trigger/uwuting (september 2025)
having used the uwuting for about a year (july/august '24 - oct '25) figured i'd give my 2 cents
firstly thank you justche for letting mesteal trade your old uwuting for a crate of beer after they gave out the new versions at coe 2024
that being said, i fear that uwuting and rt in general is just placebo for majority of the playerbase; the usage for it is so precise and niche, plus you need to alter your tapping style a lot for it to give you a noticeable leg up on specific skillsets, namely speed and/or stamina streams
i feel that a lot of the playerbase (me included!) doesn't/didn't really acknowledge this when getting into it, and simply bought the wave and then attributed any kind of improvement to tapping through lighter switches/quicker activation/etc. to rapid trigger, rather than the keyboard design itself, or personal improvement
of course it works on very obvious cases like fingerlock and stamina drain; there are some scores i've set whilst using the thing that wouldn't have been set on a regular keyboard because of how rt essentially nullifies these issues -- on the flipside, there are scores that have equally been ruined by the thing and it's chatter
also my acc tanked on it the first few months i used it; maybe i got worse, maybe it was the keypad, idk man
all that said and done, if it's helped you: i don't doubt it, the guys at wooting are great and their keyboards and keypads are incredible quality and i'm glad i was able to use it for so long
im glad i was able to test the thing out for so long; in the end it wasn't for me, but maybe it will be for you, give it a try

on "fixing a ranks" (october 2025)
somewhere around 2022-2023, i decided to try and tackle a challenge that very, very few have accomplished in this game with success: 0 listed a-ranks on their profile (so either all scores with 0xmiss or accuracy low enough to be counted as b-ranks)
the challenge originally stemmed from an admiration of digitalhypno, who was able to knock the last a-rank off his profile sometime in september 2021 -- which was around the time i started to really get into the osu community and was "peaking" in skill at the time (i now realise i was not a fraction as good as i would be lol)
obviously digitalhypno took this challenge from sapphireghost, who i'd claim was the "original" sd/0 a-rank demon; and definitely someone i still look up to today
that being said, i spent the next 2 years pretty much off and on the game, playing other games, and not really giving much playtime to osu!, but helping out in other ways (tourney staffing). originally i started with around 1000~ a-ranks, which i was pretty comfortable with wittling down to 600, at which point i lost motivation with the game, as a lot of the a-ranks i had obtained were from when i was a "better" player -- the truth is that because of the challenge, i had stunted my own growth and ability to push consistency and skillcap, by feeling the need to play everything with either sd, or quit out once i had a miss.
then, after coe 2025 i realised the whole challenge, whilst initially fun, was putting a strain on how much i was able to enjoy the game, and was killing my consistency and skillcap whilst i wasn't participating in tournaments.
so i stopped. and found immediate relief in just being able to play the game without needing to fc everything.
i still quit out when i get a very very dumb miss, but i'm working on stopping that, and just submitting clears to submit clears, as well as working on my consistency and generally score farming/having fun.
i still like having a good "s-rank to a-rank ratio"; so don't expect me to go on a spree setting a billion a-ranks, and i will come back to fix a lot of them, maybe much later down the line in the future.
tl;dr: a-rank fixing and profile perfection is great if you're super good at the game, but for regular joes (or jakks in this case) it's very straining and terrible for improvement.
always remember: enjoy game.
